Concept introduction:
A denser compound has lesser volume as compared to less denser compound with same mass. The relation between density, mass and volume is as follows:
Answer to Problem 8E
5 g aluminium will have more volume as compared to 5 g of iron.
Explanation of Solution
As density is inversely proportional to volume so a matter with higher density will have smaller volume provided masses of both the matters are same.
In the given example, 5 g of aluminium and 5 g of iron are taken. Mass is same in both the cases. But aluminium will have larger volume as it’s density is lesser than that of iron.
Thus, 5 g aluminium will have more volume as compared to 5 g iron.
