Explanation of Solution

Smell of a molecule depends on the structural features and functional group. As molecules with different structural formulas might have different functional groups those can have different smell. For example ester has fruity smell, carboxylic compounds are putrid, alcoholic compounds have pungent odor and ketone have minty smell. Thus, the smell depends on functional groups present in the molecule.
