Interpretation:
Whether molecular formula of a molecule can be determined from its structural formula or not needs to be determined.
Concept introduction:
Structural formula is a formula of a compound in which the arrangement of bonds between atoms can be seen.

Answer to Problem 3E
Molecular formula will be obtained from the given structural formula.
Explanation of Solution
A molecular formula can express different structural formula. Molecular formula is a general formula which holds structures of many possible compounds.
For example, both ethyl alcohol and diethyl ether have same molecular formula of C2H6O however the structures are different. There is hydroxyl group in ethyl alcohol but in ether there is alkoxy group and there is no hydroxyl group unlike alcohol. Thus if structures of ethyl alcohol and dimethyl ether are given, molecular formula can be obtained by counting the number of different atoms present.
From structural formula, molecular formula can be obtained.
