Interpretation: Which one is not a
Concept Introduction: Whenever an atom or ion loses electrons, other atom gains electrons. The loss of electrons is known as oxidation, and the gain of electrons is known as reduction. Oxidation and reduction always occur together. This process is known as oxidation-reduction or redox.
Answer to Problem 6E
The reaction
Explanation of Solution
The net ionic equation for the reaction is as follows:
All element has same electron on both reactant and product side. Therefore, there is no acceptation and donation of electrons. Since, in redox reaction both oxidation and reduction takes place. Hence, this reaction is not a redox reaction.
