Interpretation:
The thermal equilibrium needs to be explained when hot and cold-water are mixed together.
Concept Introduction :
When the concentrations of reactant and product are constant, and their ratio does not vary then the substance is in equilibrium.Alternativemethod of explaining equilibrium is to say that a system is in equilibrium if rate of forward and backward reaction is same.
Explanation of Solution
In the hot water sample, due to high temperature, the kinetic energy of themolecules will be high and in cold water sample, the kinetic energy will be low due to low temperature.
The transfer of energy takes place via collisionin the molecules whenboth the samples are mixed.A state occurs when sample attain the same temperature after complete collision or all the water molecules have same kinetic energy.
