Answer to Problem 116A
Melting point of covalent molecular solid is lower than covalent network solid.
Explanation of Solution
Covalent molecular solids have weak intermolecular forces of attraction. Thus this solid is soft and have lower melting point. Covalent network solid has strong network of covalent bond thus it has high melting point and are very hard. Physical properties are differing in covalent molecular solids and covalent network solid.
Bond between covalent molecular solid are London dispersion force, dipole-dipole force etc and bond present in covalent network solid is covalent bond.
