Glucose-alanine cycle is also called the Cahill cycle. This cycle is used in the process of gluconeogenesis. In muscles, pyruvate is converted into alanine, which is then transported to the liver. Inside the liver, alanine is converted back into pyruvate, which is then utilized to synthesize glucose.
