The metabolism of glucose is known as glycolysi, shereas the metabolism of fructose sugar is known as fructolysis. Both the sugars are reduced to shorter carbon chains during their metabolism. The metabolism of glucose is slower in comparison to the metabolism of fructose because two regulatory steps are bypassed during the metabolism of fructose.
