Introduction:

Glucose is used as the source of energy in most living organisms. Itundergoes a series of reactions which lead to the release of two molecules of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), two molecules of NADH (reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), and pyruvate. Pyruvate is rich in energy and undergoes aerobic or anaerobic respiration depending upon the presence or absence of oxygen.
