Introduction:
Glucokinase (GK) or hexokinase IV is an enzyme that is able to phosphorylate glucose in the cells of the liver, intestin, end brain. GK converts glucose into glucose-6-phosphate, like other hexokinases. However, unlike other hexokinases, GK is not negatively regulated by glucose-6-phosphate. The kinetic properties of GK are different from other hexokinases.
