Summary Introduction

To review:

The role played by hexokinases during the storage of excess glucose molecules in the form of glycogen.

Introduction:

All living organisms require energy to perform various metabolic activities. The energy is utilized in the form of ATP (adenosine trinucleotide), which is provided by the oxidation of glucose. The human body stores excess amount of glucose in the form of glycogen. The enzyme hexokinases are required for the phosphorylation of six-carbon sugar, that is, glucose. Hexokinase plays an important role in glycogen storage.
