To review:

The concentration of phosphorylated glycolytic intermediates rises and hence causes cell death when there is a compromise in the glycosomal membrane of Trypanosomabrucei(T. brucei).

Introduction:

T. brucei is a parasitic kinetoplastid, which causes sleeping sickness. The parasites in Trypanosoma do not necessarily depend on glycolysis. However, T. brucei metabolism entirely depends on glycolysis. T. brucei lives in a glucose-rich environment. All the intermediates of glycolysis are phosphorylated.
