Explanation of Solution
A substance is said to be carcinogen, when it causes mutations in a living organism that results in development of cancer. Cancer is defined as an uncontrolled or abnormal growth of new cells in any part of the body. Mutations can be caused by radiations like gamma rays, X-rays etc. they cause damage after long-duration or repeated exposure. They are divided into three major categories: chemical, physical and oncogenic virus.
For example: a simple benzene, planar structure molecule is carcinogen.
