Interpretation:
The manner in which chemists keep track of changes in matter must be explained.
Concept introduction:
Matters are changed with the help of
New substances are formed due the chemical reactions.
The properties of products generated in the chemical reactions are different from the starting materials or reactants.
Answer to Problem 1TAI
Studying a chemical reaction chemists keep track of changes in matter.
Explanation of Solution
A balanced chemical equation is the representation of a chemical change in which all the reactants, products and stoichiometry of all the substances involved are provided. The physical states of all the substances are given in bracket including the formation of gaseous substances( with upward arrow) or precipitates (with downward arrow).
If any foul smelling gases are produced or any suffocating gases are produced then chemists can note it down that the reaction involves the change in matter. The reaction might also generate any colorful gas or precipitates or solutions. These will also confirm that change in matter is taking place.
Chemists can keep track of changes in matter by studying chemical reactions in detail.
