Interpretation : Freezing and boiling temperatures of water in degree Celsius, Kelvins and degree Fahrenheit has to be calculated.
Concept Introduction : There are three types of temperature scales, a Celsius scale, a Kelvin scale and a Fahrenheit scale. Celsius scale was created by Andreas Celsius in 1747 and Fahrenheit scale was created by German scientist Daniel Fahrenheit in 1724. Lord Kelvin proposed the Kelvin scale in 1848.

Answer to Problem 4E
Freezing temperatures of water are:
In Celsius scale the freezing temperature of water is
On the Fahrenheit scale, the freezing temperature of water is
On the Kelvin scale, the freezing temperature of water is
Boiling temperatures of water are:
In Celsius scale the boiling temperature of water is
On the Fahrenheit scale, the boiling temperature of water is
On the Kelvin scale, the boiling temperature of water is
Explanation of Solution
Freezing temperatures of water are:
In Celsius scale the freezing temperature of water is
On the Fahrenheit scale, the freezing temperature of wateris calculated by using the formula
On the Kelvin scale, the freezing temperature of water is
Boiling temperatures of water are:
In Celsius scale the boiling temperature of water is
On the Fahrenheit scale, the boiling temperature of water is calculated as shown below:
On the Kelvin scale, the boiling temperature of water is
Most of the scientific calculations and experiments use Kelvin scale of temperature. Kelvin is also the S.I unit of temperature.
