Concept introduction: Pressure is defined as the amount of force that acts over one unit of area. It is exerted by one substance over other substance. Molecules of the gas are in constant motion. This motion leads to the pressure over the walls of the container.

An increase in gas volume leads to a decrease in the pressure of the gas as both are inversely proportional according to Boyle’s law.
Explanation of Solution
According to Boyle’s law at the conditions of constant temperature and constant number of particles, the relationship between pressure and volume of gas is given as shown below.
Thus, both pressure and volume are inversely proportional to each other. Now, when the gas volume is increased then the area of the walls of the container will increase. This will lead to a decrease in the collision of gas molecules with the walls of the container. Thus, decreased collisions lead to a decrease in pressure.
