Different physical properties are used in chemistry to explain various chemical and physical processes.
Physical properties are used to explain the physical characteristics of the matter such as volume, density etc.

Explanation of Solution
A matter can be explained on the bases of different physical properties such as mass, volume, density, melting point, boiling point etc.
Density is the space occupied by an object in relation to amount of matter present in it. It represents the mass of any object present in per unit volume of it. Therefore higher value of mass in lesser volume indicates a denser object.
The mathematical expression of density can be written as:
For example, gold is denser than air. This is because the mass per volume for gold is higher than air.
