Two ways must be described which can be used for measuring volume of a solid.

Volume of a solid is the amount of space it has occupied.

Answer to Problem 1E

Volume of a solid can be measured with the help of water displacement.

Volume of a solid with regular shape can be measured with scale.

Explanation of Solution

The solid can be immersed in a measuring cylinder containing known volume of water. After the solid is immersed there will be volume change of the water. The increased volume is the volume of the solid.

A solid with regular shape like cube can be measured by measuring the edge length as volume of cube is (edge length)3.

Conclusion

Thus, two methods are described for measuring the volume of solid object.
