Chapter 21, Problem 108E
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The effect of tautomeric form of thymine rather than its stable form in a strand of DNA during replication is to be explained.

Concept introduction: Tautomers are defined as constitutional isomers in which two or more isomers exist in equilibrium and are interchanged by the migration of an atom or a group within the molecule and nitrogenous base is defined as an organic molecule which consists of nitrogen atom and act as the building blocks of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). The nitrogenous bases are adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), thymine (T) and uracil (U).

To determine: The effect of tautomeric form of thymine rather than its stable form in a strand of DNA during replication.
