Concept Introduction:
In a reaction, the solid which is formed in the liquid solution is known as precipitate.
Explanation of Solution
Precipitates are insoluble ionic solids which form when the cations and anions combine in an aqueous solution.
The factors on which precipitate depends as follows:
Temperature
Solution used for buffer
Solution concentration
The solid precipitate which formed is crystalline in nature and can be separated through the liquid solution as it falls to the bottom of the solution. The remaining liquid is known as supernatant liquid.
The two mixtures can be separated by filtration, centrifugation etc.
