Explanation of Solution
Metals are very reactive elements which are usually exist in solid state. They have luster surface and are very god conductor of heat and electricity. This is because, they have 1,2 or 3 valence electrons and tend to give valence electrons to form metal cation.
Metal reacts with oxygen to form metal oxide. For example, the reaction of sodium with oxygen forms sodium oxide as given:
