The bond result from the electrostatic force of attraction between oppositely charged ions is called ionic bond and the bond result from the mutual sharing of electrons between atoms is called covalent bond.
The bond order is defined as the number of electron pairs that are shared between two atoms. The bond order in single bond is one. The bond order in a double bond is two and in triple bond a bond order is three.
The increase in bond order between two atoms increases the strength of the bond and decreases the distance of bond.
