Proteoglycans are molecules thatcontain a high concentration of carbohydrates and protein compound linked together by N- and O-glycosidic linkage. The protein part of proteoglycan is referred to as core protein. Proteoglycans contain a GAG (glycosaminoglycans) chain, which is covalently attached to the core protein.
