Introduction:
The carbohydrates that areattached with lipid or protein molecules on the surface of red blood cells are known as blood group antigens. The production of these molecules is based on the information stored in the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). There are 3 types of blood group antigens, namely A, B, and H, where H also acts as the precursor for the other two antigens (A and B). The chain of Hantigen is modified on the addition of specific sugars in case of the presence of A or/and B gene.
