Introduction:

Oligosaccharides are the polymers that contain 10 to15 monomers linked together by glycosidic bonds. Exhaustive methylation is a process where a sugar molecule is treated with a methylating agent exhaustively till the methyl groupsare added to all the possible locations. This converts OH (hydroxyl) groups toOCH3 (methoxy group). However, the glycosidic bonds are not affected due to exhaustive methylation.
