An aldohexose is defined as the carbohydrate molecule comprising 6 carbon atoms and an aldehyde group in its molecular structure. The aldaric acids are defined as a group of acids of the corresponding sugar in which the carboxylic acid moiety replaces the terminal hydroxyl and carbonyl groups after oxidation.
