Calculation:
To determine if 16 a prime number or a composite number, simply look at the factors for 16.
If the factors of 16 are only 16 and 1, then 16 is a prime number. Otherwise, 16 is a composite number.
The factors of 16 are as follows:
1, 2, 4, 8 and 16
Therefore, since 16 is divisible by more than one and itself, the number is composite.
