Concept explainers
Interpretation:
If an element can be distinguished from the compound should be explained.
Concept introduction:
There are different substances present in the universe. The element are the pure substances, that can be broken to form other substance, while compounds are made up of two or more elements which are chemically bound.
Answer to Problem 70A
The properties of the compounds depend on the nature of the elements present in it.
Explanation of Solution
The elements in the compounds are present in a fix ratio that determine its composition and chemical properties. The elements present in the compound give the compound its chemical properties. This is because, the different properties of the substance come from the arrangement of the atoms in it, different atoms posses its own character, which gives the compound a complete physical and chemical structure and properties.
