Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The method of measuring humidity must be explained.
Concept introduction:
Amount of water vapor in air is different in different places.
Humidity is a measure of concentration of water vapor in air.
Answer to Problem 1TAI
Humidity is the concentration of water vapor in air.
Explanation of Solution
Humidity can be of three main types. These are absolute, relative and specific.
Humidity can be measured with help of hygrometer.
In case of absolute humidity, amount of water vapor is measured as gram per cubic meter or grams per kilogram.
In case of relative humidity, it is expressed as percentage which is the absolute humidity relative to a maximum humidity given in the same temperature.
The ratio of mass of water vapor in the air to the mass of total moist air is specific humidity.
