Concept explainers
Interpretation :
Three ways must be named that can be used to increase the pressure of a tire.
Concept Introduction :
Pressure of a gas depends on temperature, volume and number of molecules.
Answer to Problem 5E
The pressure of a tire can be increased by increasing temperature (T), increasing the number of gas molecules (n) and decreasing the volume (V).
Explanation of Solution
According to ideal gas equation
From the equation it is clear that P is directly proportional to n and T and inversely proportional to V.
Thus if the tire is heated, compressed or more air is allowed to enter then pressure will increase.
Three ways are named that can be used to increase the pressure of a tire.
