Concept explainers
Interpretation :
Difference between manometer and barometer must be explained.
Concept Introduction :
Manometer is a machine which is used to measure pressure of anything and barometer is used to measure pressure of air around us.
Answer to Problem 3E
Manometer is particularly used to measure the difference of pressure of two places, whereas barometer is used to measure the air pressure.
Explanation of Solution
All barometers are manometers but all manometers are not barometers.
With the help of barometer, only one type of pressure is measured which is air pressure at any locality with respect to sea level. But manometer can measure any type of pressure including gauge pressures.
