To Write and solve an inequality to determine number of pairs of shoes purchased by J
Answer to Problem 5.1.1.7P
Explanation of Solution
Given information:
J has $190
He buys a video game costing $55
He buys a T-shirt costing $20
Calculation:
Let the number of pairs of shoes purchased by J be
Cost of 1 pair of shoes is $40
Therefore cost of x pairs of shoes will be
Total money spent by J =Cost of video game +Cost of T-shirt +Cost of x pairs of shoes
Total money spent by J =
Now according to question:-
Subtracting 75 from both sides of the inequality
But pair of shoes cannot be in fraction
Therefore
So number of pairs of shoes purchased by J is Two.
