Concept introduction:
Alloys are a combination of different metal elements to give increased strength and hardness. Moreover, such alloys have enhanced property wherein the material has resistance to corrosion, good mechanical properties. Example are Bronze, Brass and steel.

Alloying of metal is to enhance its properties so that it is corrosion resistant, stronger, and harder.
Explanation of Solution
Alloys are obtained by combining one or two elements to the metal. It is a solution of metallic-solid that is composed of two or more elements. It will crystallize upon cooling into mixture and this mixture cannot be separated using physical means.
Here the size of metal ions and the added elements have almost the same size. When metal is in pure form, it reacts easily with surrounding air and water to form oxides. This causes corrosion of the metal exposed to air.
But by adding other elements, the metal gets stable structure and is inert causing the non-reaction of metals with surrounding air and water making them resistant to corrosion.
The main reason for making metals as alloys is to enhance the property of metals such that it can be utilized for construction, medical and shipping industry.
