Concept explainers
To describe and correct the error in finding the volume of the solid.
Answer to Problem 5E
Incorrect 469 cm3
Correct 117 cm3
Explanation of Solution
Given information:
Diameter ( d ) of the circular base pyramid is 8 centimeters
Height ( h ) of the pyramid is 7 centimeters
Formula Used:Volume of the pyramid,
B is base area
Base of pyramid is cicular
( , r is radius )
( then r = 4cm )
Calculation: Substituting value of base area and height of pyramid in formula,
Square of 4 is 16
The value of pi upto 2 decimal point is 3.14
On solving answer is,
cm3
Hence, approximate answer is,
=117 cm3
In this question the base diameter taken as the base radius that's why answer is coming 469cm3 instead of 117 cm3
