Answer to Problem 13E
2040 in3
Explanation of Solution
Given information:
Length ( l ) of the gift box is 17 inches
Width( w ) of the gift box is 14 inches
Height( h ) of the gift box is 10 inches
Length ( l ) of the large box is 20 inches
Width( w ) of the large box is 17 inches
Height( h ) of the large box is 13 inches
Formula used:
Volume( V ) of the rectangular box
Calculation:
Volume of gift box Substituting value of Length ( l ), Width( w ), and Height( h ) in the formula,
On solving answer is,
=2380 in3
Volume of large box Substituting value of Length ( l ), Width( w ), and Height( h ) in the formula,
On solving answer is,
=4420 in3 when the volume of gift box is subtract from volume of large box to obtain foam needed,
in3
on solving answer is-
=2040 in3
Hence, foam needed is 2040 in3 .
