Explanation of Solution
Ions are atoms or groups of atoms with an overall charge. The charge can be positive or negative. When sodium and chlorine atoms form bond, sodium gives its electron to chlorine thus, sodium gets positive charge and chlorine gets negative charge. Thus, NaCl is formed. Na is positively charged that means cation and Cl negatively charged that means anion.
