At low temperature, the substance exist in solid state as they have least energy whereas at high temperature they are usually in gaseous state as gas particles have very high kinetic energy.

Explanation of Solution

All substance can exist in three possible state of matter, solid, liquid and gases. In the solid state of matter, particles have least intermolecular distance with least kinetic energy. They can only show vibrations at their mean position due to least kinetic energy.

On the contrary, gaseous particles have high kinetic energy with largest intermolecular distance and least intermolecular force of attraction.

At low temperature, the substance exist in solid state as they have least energy whereas at high temperature they are usually in gaseous state as gas particles have very high kinetic energy.

Conclusion

Temperature determines the kinetic energy of particles.
