Explanation of Solution
The reactions which are involved in maintaining the living condition of the cells present in an organism is known as metabolism. The energy is required for all living organisms for different processes and the formation of new organic substances.
ATP stands for Adenosine triphosphate. It is known as the energy-carrying molecule. It is an organic compound which consists of phosphate groups, sugar ribose and adenine. ATP provides energy for biochemical processes that take place in the body. Thus, this is known as the energy carrier. These molecules are obtained by mitochondria, thus known as the powerhouse of the cell.
ATP which is known as energy carrier molecules are found in cells of the living organisms. These molecules obtained chemical energy from the digested food molecules for body functioning, further this energy is used for the various cellular process in living organisms.
Within the cells, energy is provided by oxidation of “metabolic fuels” for example carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. After that, it is used for processes that depend upon energy such as muscle contraction, synthesis of macromolecules, thermogenesis, or active ion transport.
