If precipitate is formed, when two soluble salt solutions are combined together is known as precipitation reaction.
Qualitative analysis:
The unknown ions that present in the solution is identified by chemical tests is called as qualitative analysis.
In the qualitative analysis, 20 metal cations are separated by 5 groups and the each group elements are separated by precipitation reaction,
The respective group metal ions are precipitated with addition of respective reagents (cations) for the group are given in below figure 1,
