Introduction:

Gene mutations are rare and random changes in the DNA sequence which result in the alteration ofPolypeptide composition and protein function. Mutations may also outcome in phenotypic variation. The most common types of gene mutations include substitution, addition, and deletion of one ormore DNA base pairs. These types of mutations are limited to a specific base pair or location in agene and are known as point mutations.

The frame-shift mutation is the shift in the open reading frame of a coding sequence caused by the addition or deletion of the base pair. The mutation will result in mutant polypeptide. This amino acid sequence will have an altered sequence.
