Interpretation: Location of non metal in periodic table and their tendency to pull electron is to be explained.
Concept introduction: Periodic table is an arrangement where elements are arranged on the basis of their increasing
Explanation of Solution
In a periodic table, most active metals are located on extreme left of periodic table towards the bottom side. And most active non metal are located on upper right side of periodic table.
Non metal tends to pull electrons effectively from metals because they are located towards the right side of the period and as we move towards right across a period, the nuclear charge keeps on increasing due to increase in number of proton in successive atoms in same principal shell. Electron enters into same principal energy level. So, due to high nuclear charge experienced by valence electrons, atomic size decreases in non metals. Hence their tendency to pull electron of metal is high.
