The differences in the functions of the small intestine and the large intestine in digestion.

Introduction:

The small intestine and the large intestine are muscular tubes that extend from the stomach’s pyloric sphincter to the anus. The small intestine is subdivided into three parts, namely duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. Liver and pancreas drain their secretions into the small intestine for the digestion of food. The intestinal walls have tiny villi for absorption. The large intestine is subdivided into cecum, ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, appendix, rectum, as well as anus.
