The alimentary canal or the digestive tract is a hollow, tubular structure that is involved in the digestion process of the body. It consists of various digestive organs, namely mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, small intestine, and large intestine. Various enzymes are secreted by different organs of the digestive tract that help in the digestion of food and convert them into particles that can be easily absorbed into the body cells or fluids.
