Answer to Problem 1.2CYU
Voluntary sampling
Explanation of Solution
Given:
A survey has been conducted by the ABC program Nightline to ask if the headquarters of the United Nation should be in the United States or not. For this, many viewers have been called up. More than 186,000 respondents have responded and 67% of denied with it.
A voluntary sample is a type of sample in which all the respondents participate in the survey on their own interest. This type of sample is also known as the self -selected sample because of the interest of the participants.
In this case, voluntary response sampling is involved because the respondents that are strong about the issue have responded. The respondents that are in favor of having the headquarter in the United Nations would be less willing to respond to the question which could lead biasness in the survey.
