Question
Chapter 4, Problem 4.4CTE
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation: “ Xenon atoms must be held together by covalent bond” should be explained
Concept introduction:
- Covalent bond: The bond which is formed by sharing of electron is called covalent bond.
- Hybridization: It is the concept of redistribution of energy by mixing different orbitals of an atom to give new orbitals of equivalent energy, identical shapes and symmetrical orientation in space. The new equivalent orbitals formed due to hybridization are known as hybrid orbitals and the bonds formed by such orbitals are hybrid bonds.
