Explanation of Solution
The intermolecular forces present in the iodine molecules are dispersion forces and these forces are weak. The weak dispersion forces cannot hold the iodine molecules together. When these bonds are broken, the movement of atoms in opposite direction takes place and the solid can directly be converted into the gaseous state.
Thus, the reason for solid iodine to sublime readily is weak dispersion forces in the atoms.
