Explanation of Solution
Melting process involves addition of thermal energy and so intermolecular force decreases and intermolecular distance increases. It converts solid to liquid. For example ice is melted to liquid water. Freezing process involves removal of thermal energy and so intermolecular force increases and intermolecular distance decreases. It converts liquid to solid. For example liquid water is converted to solid ice.
Melting converts liquid to solid whereas freezing converts liquid to solid.
