Solar energy generation along highways. The potential of using solar panels constructed above national highways to generate energy was explored in the International Journal of Energy and Environmental Engineering (December 2013). Two-layer solar panels (with 1 meter separating the panels) were constructed above sections of both east-west and north-south highways in India. The amount of energy (kilowatt-hours) supplied to the country’s grid by the solar panels above the two types of highways was determined each month. The data for several randomly selected months are provided in the table. The researchers concluded that the “two-layer solar panel energy generation is more viable for the north-south oriented highways as compared to east-west oriented roadways.” Compare the

- Burning fuels in power plants and motor vehicles emits carbon dioxide (CO2), which contributes to global warming. The CO2 emissions (metric tons per capita) for countries varies from 0.02 in Burundi to 44.02 in Qatar. Although the data set includes 214 countries, the CO2 emissions of 15 countries are not available on the World Bank database. The data set is too large to display but the data for the first five countries is given. Use the full data set with data on the 214 countries to answer the questions. - A study conducted at the University of Denver investigated whether babies take longer to learn to crawl in cold months, when they are often bundled in clothes that restrict their movement, than in warmer months. Infants born during the study year were split into twelve groups, one for each birth month. We consider the average crawling age of babies in each group against the average temperature when the babies are six months old (that's when babies often begin trying to crawl).
