Nuclear equation for the transmutation of the isotope $U$ into isotope $Th$ by emission of an $\alpha$ particle is $U\to H+Th$ .

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Alpha particles or alpha rays generally have two protons and two neutrons bounded together in such a way that the particle is very much similar to helium-4 nucleus.

In given example of $U$ into isotope $Th$ alpha particles are emitted. The uranium isotope $U$ undergoes transmutation and emits alpha particles and Thorium $Th$ isotope is produced. The emission of alpha particles is $He$

Thus, the equation is,

  $U\to H+Th$

Conclusion:

The required reaction is $U\to H+Th$ .
