To Explain:
Linear accelerator cannot work with a neutron.

Answer to Problem 72A
The reason why the linear accelerator cannot work with the neutrons is that the neutrons are neutral and cannot be pushed by electric or a magnetic field and thus cannot accelerate the particle.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A linear accelerator is also called as linear particle accelerator is one of a type of particle accelerator that helps to increase the kinetic energy of the particle which is charged. It is used in the X-rays and also for medicinal purposes.
Linear accelerators accelerate the particles with an electric force but as the neutrons are neutral, they cannot be pushed by the electric field. Neutrons do not have any charge and thus unable the neutrons to accelerate the particle.
Conclusion:
Hence, the neutrons are neutral and cannot be pushed by electric or a magnetic field and thus cannot accelerate the particle.
